Aesthetically this set resembles what you can find at a dollar store but the ceramic blades are sharpened to a high level of sharpness. Not necessarily sharper than any stainless steel or carbon steel blades I've had, but we'll see how long these knives stay sharp. They're surprisingly light, which is also a bit off-putting, although I'll admit the paring knife is exceedingly comfortable to use. I suspect that when preparing a large number of items, the lack of weight can be a disadvantage in the long run. I'm not usually a big fan of soft grip composite grips and the material used here doesn't suit me. Opinion. The included scabbards are a nice touch and probably essential to keep the blades from chipping in the storage box. Personally, the open handle of the peeler doesn't bother me either. It works well enough, but seems trivial to me. But this blade is sharp enough to reach the target without nicking.
