I'm not sure if I'm getting old technologically, the docking station I know will power the laptop, turn on the laptop without opening it (part 1) and video/audio/ Transmit data to monitor, speakers and other peripherals (part 2) But this device only does part 2 and not part 1 as described. The seller of the product must state this explicitly, otherwise you will see more product returns than when using your product. Also, this hub consumes a lot of computing resources. My laptop was very slow when I connected it to the USB3 port. I have now gone back and replaced it with a Dell WD15 and my laptop runs very fast with the Dell WD15 dock. Another important consideration is that Sabrent doc requires your laptop to be open and powered on to work, while Dell WD15 requires your laptop to boot up even when the laptop screen is closed! So I would not recommend this product for those who are used to working with traditional laptop paperwork where we just plug in (without opening the laptop) and your machine is up and running!
