Odd Hex Size

When reaming screw holes, it is common to use a reamer that is 1/16" larger than the screw size, so this 9/16 reamer is for 1/2" screws. I have several of these reamers and all the others are the correct size hex so you can use the same head as the screw the reamer is intended for. For 1/2" screws, this would be 3/4" or 7/8". This reamer fits into a 1" socket.

Pros
  • Reamers
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

Works great

1pc. I'm not a metal worker. When I wanted to widen a couple of 1 1/8" and .040" diameter holes in 3" steel, I knew I was going to have a hard time drilling them with the hand drills I have. I'm into these Bumped option.Using some cutting oil and my 1/2" air hammer I drilled out 4 holes in about 10 minutes. The tool worked great and still feels as sharp as new. Worth every penny.

Pros
  • Bridge and Structural Reamers
Cons
  • Requires Socket

Chipped and Blunt Tool in Thick Steel

I needed to enlarge a 1 inch non-circular hole in mild steel on a farm implement. Using oil and an impact wrench (had to buy a 1-5/8" socket just for that 1-1/8" reamer) this tool cut steel, but very slowly. Eventually the cutting edges were broken off and blunted. would be good in thinner metal?

Pros
  • Industry and Science
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging
