Nice Ace Case at a good price. But needs some work

I wanted a simple and relatively inexpensive leather case for my 1.25lbs Husky ax from Home Depot. good coverage. First, it's a simple genuine leather case and a bit stiff. I soaked it in warm water for a few minutes. Then I wrap the ax in plastic wrap, put it in the lid and close it. After a few days it dried out and stretched to fit snugly on the head. Then I used brown shoe polish to give the case a subtle color. I just had a light auburn so it didn't get as dark as I would have liked, but it's good enough for me. I also bought some mink oil and rubbed it in to waterproof the leather a bit. It worked very well. I found a bottle at Revain. If you are concerned that it is mink oil, you can search the internet for other synthetic alternatives. Haven't really used it in the wild so can't comment on durability yet, but it's definitely thick enough leather I don't see a chance of getting hurt by an ax blade. For the price it's a good deal but I can't give it five stars as obviously I had to work a little to make it a little bit better.
