Guessing game suitable for grills and pans at home

I'm always looking for a new way to cook. I have skillets, air fryers, and toasters, but I've never owned a contact pan. I saw this pan from Bear and thought it might be worth a try. I ordered this pan for several reasons. First I liked the size. According to the description, it's 11.8". That's true...but that's the outside dimension...not of the cooktop. I thought it was big enough to make a frozen pizza in...no. I was very disappointed with that fact. Second, I liked the fact that it had two skillets... one on top and one on the bottom. I thought it would be easier to brown the top of the sandwich or melt the cheese on it. The nice thing is that you just... can use the bottom panel you need as the top one is on a separate switch. However, you can't use the top panel alone. And finally, I liked the depth of the bottom panel. Most pans I've seen are quite shallow. It's 1" deep, which would theoretically allow you to stew or fry in it. However, the depth makes it a little harder to get at the food with a spatula. My pancakes are having a bit of trouble e cost. There are a couple of issues with this pan though... one of which I think is serious. This pan does not have an indicator to show when it is preheated. You only have to guess. In my opinion, this is a big minus. In addition, the temperature controller on the device is very difficult to decipher. It's just a series of "dashes"...no indication of the temperature. I guess like preheating it's a guessing game or trial and error. The instructions for this pan are the worst I have ever seen. They get confused and are actually telling you to ignore these instructions if you don't have the device shown in the photo. So stupid. Working with a frying pan is another thing to figure out for yourself. The pan cooked great and was easy to clean. I'll leave it, I'm sure, but I'll definitely look for something better.
