Easily cuts through metal studs. Works very quickly, unlike a portable grinding wheel. I tried a grinding wheel first and the end of the bolt got so hot it melted the nylon on the nylon insert locknuts. In comparison, this did the job very well in about a minute. I cut ⅜” zinc plated steel carriage bolts. If you need a cut-off wheel, look no further...it will get the job done quickly and with little to no fuss. Since the blade is very thin, you can cut the bolts flush with the nut if necessary. Easy to work with and can be used as a grinding wheel to keep your bolts flush with the nut if you miss, but use the edge as that is the working end of the wheel. A flat surface is likely to wear out too quickly...use a grinder for this purpose.
