The relationship with Telesins GoPro dome products started with my Hero 7. I only had good reviews for this dome, so when I got the Hero 8 I bought a product made for the new camera from Telesin was developed. When the goods arrived I got everything ready for kayaking that weekend. I loaded the dome with other cameras and headed to the boat. When I went to charge the GoPro, like many other reviewers, I noticed that the plastic clip that closes the case was broken. I ordered a second replacement dome thinking this issue was due to what I had done. The second arrived and sat unopened in the box until last Friday, the day before another trip to the crystal clear river here in Florida. Everything was good. I went and prepared everything. The GoPro loaded and when I tried to lock the door...CLICK! The cheap plastic latch broke again in the same spot as the previous one. It rendered the device unusable...again. As I mentioned above, I had a Hero 7 dome and noticed a definite difference between the two. There was a piece of metal on top of the Hero 7's dome mechanism that seemed to reinforce the locking mechanism, which the Hero 8 didn't seem to have. can withstand fairly intense conditions. Not easy to crack when opening the case to insert or take out the camera. I am very disappointed as I missed TWO trips due to the poor quality of this canopy. Would love to try this product again...just wish they would go back to the old metal reinforced version.
