When the zipper is fully open, the bag can lay flat and keep your laptop separate from other things in your bag. So you no longer have to take your laptop out of your pocket. I would point out that if you use this bag for this purpose, you should only store your laptop in the laptop compartment. Store all other laptop accessories elsewhere in the bag. Being able to use this bag the way it is intended to be used is very important. In addition to the main function of the laptop compartment, there are many other storage options. There's room for USB sticks or memory cards, and pockets for just about anything. There is also a small mesh on the side of the bag. Just unzip the little zipper and pull out the mesh and suddenly you have a place to store your mineral water. Very convenient for travel and even everyday use. Lightweight and comfortable to wear on one or both shoulders.
