The VC version works well with t3i.

I could not get an answer what is the difference between the FC and VC models, both are marked Canon. Lots of good reviews about FC so I decided to try VC. Worked as expected with t3i and 430exII Some other things for clarification for those who may not be familiar: They have two functions: remote flash trigger and camera trigger. The camera's hot shoe is used to trigger the flash, not the cord (in most cases). You can then connect the high speed flash directly to the receiver shoe or use a PC cable to connect to a monoblock/studio flash. For camera release, compatibility may vary and you will also need the correct cable to connect to the camera, the shoe mount will NOT fire the shutter, only the flash.

Pros
  • Good construction
Cons
