Disappointed overall

Sorry I didn't like this dress. I just kind of "uncomfortable" about it. It fits like two different dresses sewn together. The top half is very tight, which is a good thing, and the bottom half is very loose and flowy, which is a good thing too. The two halves are connected by a rather chunky strip of thin elastic, and the effect looks like something you'd get in a high school sewing class. On me, this elastic goes to the thinnest part of my waist, so there's this nice, form-fitting silhouette until you reach my waist, and suddenly there's a wad of fabric and some kind of cheap-looking elastic that increases everything in the weirdest way. Path. This volume is exacerbated by the fact that this dress has pockets. I've never bothered with the pockets of my dresses and they definitely don't do the lines of this dress any favors. I'm 5ft 5in and the hem hits me right in the middle of my kneecap. As a short person, I can't think of a less flattering place for a hem. The sleeves are weird. The armholes themselves seem fine, but the top of the real sleeve is very tight (on my dress, the left one is tighter than the right - so tight), the color is beautiful, and the fabric is a very light jersey, this is what you would expect from a cheap dress made in China. The color and fabric are nice, it's the boring design and poor fit that I don't like. I'm 99% sure I'll be sending it back because I really can't stand the length or the ribbing at the waist and I don't think it would look any less messy if I layered it up with a blazer or cardigan me.

Pros
  • Soft material
Cons
  • So far so good
