Review on Scitec 2510E Single Emergency Phone by Heather Jackson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

good phone Sufficient mains voltage is required.

The phone's volume control doesn't disappoint and the sound quality is significantly better than expected for this price point, surpassing the de facto standard 2500 set (AT&T/Western Electric model 2500). This phone does not have the characteristic sound of a carbon microphone. It's nice and clean, but still falls short of top-tier hardware from vendors like Polycom or Norstar. The bell doesn't sound like a regular 2500 dial, but it's still a real metal bell. It cannot be disabled, only set to high or low. There are also two ports on the back of the phone, oddly labeled "line or data line or data". They are simply connected in parallel, so both are "linear". This is a very convincing copy of the 2500 with one odd omission - the "OPER" symbol is missing from the "0" key. It's a very "regular" desk phone. The color is nice, the finish is clean and the bezel and number plate are exactly like the original. And who doesn't like the idea of a red phone? Such phones consume whatever energy they need (e.g. to generate electricity). dial tone) from the telephone line, nominally 48 volts. Some modern installations (e.g. PBX, VoIP) do not deliver as high line voltage as true analog phone lines (sometimes they deliver lower voltages, such as 24V) and telephones sometimes have problems with this setup. This phone appears to be a little sensitive to lower voltage lines as DTMF tones appear to be somewhat distorted in such an environment.
