I've used many products for scalp issues over the years including a range of shampoos that contain salicylic acid, a compound that has some anti-inflammatory properties but primarily snake is useful as a peeling (removal of dead skin cells). This product's packaging does not list the level of salicylic acid in this product (many standard shampoos contain 2-3 percent). This product contains several other ingredients that are helpful for scalp issues including peppermint oil and rosemary leaf extract. Instructions call for use 15 minutes before showering. The product is gel-like from the tube, easy to apply to fingers and spread over scalp. I noticed a cooling effect, which I believe is due to either the peppermint oil or the menthol. I've also applied this to the brow area (to get rid of the flaking) and it seems to bring some relief. While other salicylic shampoos are cheaper, I find this product useful as a spot treatment once or twice a week to help control dandruff/dandruff.
