Our rescued 1 year old German Shepherd/Husky is a master at escaping our fenced yard. After his 7th escape in 2 weeks (including one when he was on leash and in a fenced yard with an adult) we ordered this system to be installed inside our fence line. We've been hesitant to use static correction, but we know it's more humane than letting him run away and potentially get stuck in traffic. So today is day 2 of training (the first day you introduce static correction) and after 2-3 jumps at level 2 (minimal static) he sits calmly and firmly within the limit zone. He has no interest in passing those flags again. My husband insisted on first feeling the repair himself before putting the collar on the dog and said it wasn't as bad as he expected but would definitely get his attention. What about distraction training? There are rabbits behind the fence, which he really wants to chase, but even that doesn't make him move. We are so grateful because after many other attempts to contain our dog, this was our only option left.
