Review on πŸ’§ Enhance Water Purity with Everpure EV9270 85 Cartridge Commercial Filtration by Paul Barnes

Works but expensive

I ordered this machine and installed it under the main kitchen sink in about 45 minutes with no problems. Half of that time was cleaning under the kitchen sink! The package includes various fittings, teflon tape, stainless steel braided hose and almost everything needed for installation except tools. Metal Why save on fittings? I know some will argue that guns are "plastic" these days, but I live in a house where our water heater just broke (and caused significant water damage), I love brass fittings! Expensive but worth the money in my opinion. I was also surprised at how small the device itself was. The head component that the filter screws into looks like aluminum and costs about $5. It's nicely shaped and looks premium, but considering the price of the filtration system, Everpure is charging around $175 for this small detail. What upset me the most was that the unit was leaking. Water dripped onto the filter where it was screwed into the housing. I tried lubricating the o-rings, removed and replaced the filter at least 20 times, and even did a hokey poke, but it kept dripping slowly. I contacted Revain and they quickly replaced the entire unit. I tried just changing the filter but it was still dripping so I ended up replacing the main unit too - and it helped. No leaks. The Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in our area is about 120 ppm without a filter and about 90 ppm with a filter. Not zero (0) like in a ZeroWater pitcher but VERY comfortable and I can feel the difference in the water. It tastes as good as mineral water, which is what I wanted to achieve. I don't have the patience to pour water into a jug and wait forever to get half a gallon of clean water! I wanted to use cleaner water for cooking and drinking and that helps. I would like the main unit to have an automatic water shut off like fridges do so that when the filter is changed the water shuts off. Instead, you either have to turn off the water supply under the sink or flip a lever on the headboard. I recommend the water supply as the lever is easy to flip back to the on position as it moves very easily and can be banged on when working under the sink to change the filter. The filter is said to last a year and even includes an electronic timer. which beeps when the filter is nearing the end of its life. A very nice feature. The filter is only about a month old but the water flow is excellent. Had the filter head not leaked on the first unit I would have given it five stars but it took me hours and hours to find and replace it.
