yep its smaller but thats its best feature. This fits under the airplane seat with enough room for me to put my feet on each side. I have traveled heavily with this bag for almost three years. The ONLY issue I ever had was the strap breaking. And by that I mean the stitching came undone where it is normally attached to the bag near the bottom. That is after three heavy years of traveling. I have had zero other issues including things like broken zippers or stitching issues. Looking at many bags online they tend not to last more than about 6 months. Most products are made super cheap these days. I have gotten more life out of this bag than expected and its multiple pockets, easy carry top handle and roller bag opening on the back have served me well.I don't wish this bag were bigger I wish we had more room on the plane.
