Now that I've tried the new sharp scissors/secateurs (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000M3XY3A/ ), the chopsticks can be shortened and bent without splitting. But before that almost every chopstick was broken when I cut them with my sturdy kitchen scissors. Also, I decided to try a cheap mini hand drill that made it fun to drill holes in sticks. I'm not sure how long the accessory will give good results before dulling, but with sharp tools these sticks work well. I didn't hammer the sticks before cutting, and my sticks were from the MagicFly seller.
