Review on πŸ§‚ Peugeot Daman U'Select 6.5" Salt Mill, Stainless Steel - Shaftless Design by Ben Diesel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Before you throw it in the trash - kitchen and dining room

I bought this salt mill in 2013 because I really liked the Peugeot pepper mill. Both have a great design and are easy to fill without a stick. The salt mill worked well until recently when each revolution produced less product and inconsistent grain sizes at different settings. He poured in salt and blew out the interior with compressed air. Better but not like new. Consulted Revain reviews to see if others had similar issues; I even checked the Peugeot website but it was in French. I got very upset, tempted to throw it out and even started looking at other coffee grinders. With the last of my strength, I cleaned it again and continued as before, but this time with a difference: I folded the paper towel, removed the lid from the grinder. device, turned the grinder upside down and gently tapped the towels to remove salt residue. To my surprise, about half a tablespoon of powdered salt mixed with whole crystals fell from its hiding place in the mill chamber in a silver pedestal! More compressed air, and when the base rotated easily, with no abrasion, it was clean. Filled with coarse Himalayan salt and deserves like new.

Pros
  • Patented u'Select grind adjustment: located at the bottom of the grinder; 6 preset grind settings or any intermediate point; Fine to extra coarse
Cons
  • Expensive
