I wouldn't say this brush is infallible, but it compares to zero-waste plastic scrapers. The brush cleaner starts to chip and mold if you don't dry it, but with proper care I've been using mine for several months with no problems. It cracked after the first two uses, but didn't get any worse after the first crack and didn't fall apart at all as I continued to use it. You can also replace the brush part and reuse the handle to keep it working as a long-term investment. When trying to reduce your impact, sometimes you have to settle for something less than perfect. But I end up using a slightly cracked reusable brush every day instead of a momentarily wasteful plastic brush.
