Review on APC Protection SurgeArrest Performance P11VNT3 by Ryan Saxton

Invalid data flush with coax AND NO data passes through Ethernet Protector

This particular surge protector was chosen because it was said to protect the incoming coax and the ethernet cable going to the modem. Without any surge protection, I'm getting 160Mbps from my router. When I connect the ethernet cable. And Ethernet only. My modem doesn't even work. Therefore, I reject Ethernet and only check the protection of the coaxial cable. This reduces the data rate from the base 160 Mbit/s to 20 Mbit/s. This is clearly unacceptable. Thinking the item was faulty I exchanged it for another. No difference. I contacted support and they said the drop on the coax was to be expected. So watch out for a HUGE drop in throughput. Your suggestion for ethernet was to connect the ethernet directly to my computer. Well, that defeats the purpose of the router. Then they said (quote) "Use it to protect Ethernet - that's what it can't do". My conclusion is that this network filter cannot do anything.
