Review on ๐ŸŽฎ eXtremeRate Chameleon Purple Blue DIY Housing Shell for Nintendo Switch Console - Replacement Faceplate Front Frame with Volume Up Down Power Buttons (Console NOT Included) by Pete Norris

Lighter than other reviews, very basic with excellent results

Pleasantly surprised by this set. I first read the reviews and saw a lot of complaints and was concerned that there would be quality issues or it would be a hassle to disassemble (after all, a hair dryer is required to remove the digitizer). nope! Followed their YouTube videos and it was painless. I already have my own set of electronics tools, so I have no comment on the tools included in this set (or joycons + backplate, docking station or pro controller). It came with a suction cup, which came in handy. I also received sets of LED fireflies and buttons but they weren't here yet and I was impatient to so it's pictured topless. Disassembling the screen can be difficult if the strap refuses to let go. I used a low-power hair dryer instead of a hair dryer - it had a better nozzle and a low enough temperature. Just slowly move one side at a time and gently pull it out. A spatula applied gently can lift it, but make sure it's warm enough first. Keeping all the pieces on the mat I was working on layer by layer in roughly the same positions they were removed from made assembly even faster than disassembly. A good pair of tweezers really helps with this. Total installation time for all kits at once was about 5 hours (front and back shell, joycons, docking station, pro controller + LED upgrade). There are many screws included but they appear to be for backup and replacement purposes only. The only ones I used replaced the pesky 3-slotted screws on the outside of the case with standard Phillips screws for later access. I wish Extreme Speed would offer all of their colors for the front. I have a second switch that I'd like to make in translucent blue, but it's out of stock yet. However, it will be a great addition to my growing collection of Atomic Purple electronics (pictured) and I'm very happy with how cheap the cases were.
