Okay, let's start with the question, is it for dogs or cats? The wording really needs fixing, but I think you can end up using it for both. I would never recommend using it on pets that are constantly licking as it is not good for them to ingest it, but there will be nothing harmful unless it is constantly licking. We like it, but with us it's a little different. Location. Our dog has keratosis. If you're unfamiliar, they have spiky growths on their noses and paws. We are working on what is behind our dog's condition, but in between they recommend keeping his paws really moist and supple and trimming off any excess growth so he doesn't tear his paw and also get irritated. This product is great for that and keeps her paws moisturized. I don't know if I would use it to create a protective barrier against the elements or life. It absorbs or rubs off very easily and therefore does not form a real barrier. This works great for us, but again it depends on your needs.
