Review on EXtremeRate Nintendo Controller Replacement Buttons Nintendo Switch by Mark Hamblin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Use your own screwdriver! Do not loosen the ribbon cable!

. So I initially bought these blue replacement buttons to match my pro controller to my Animal Crossing: New Horizons switcher. It took about 2 hours to set up the plates and buttons. I'm not an electronics expert though and had to watch the tutorial video a few times lol. If you're tech-savvy, this won't take that long. I like how the controller turned out, but there are a few key points to watch out for. Very nice of them to send a set of screwdrivers with purchase, but the orange screwdrivers ripped themselves off when trying to remove the original screws. the bottom of the handles. I ended up using mine. I've tried to reuse as many of the original screws as possible, but they send you lots of extras in case you break or lose a pair. I highly recommend having tweezers with you if you decide to replace the buttons, as the ZL and ZR buttons are held in place with a small metal bar that's difficult to reach with normal fingers. However, the tweezers served their purpose. PLEASE do not disconnect the ribbon cables as shown in the tutorial video. I knew if I unplugged those suction cups I wouldn't be able to turn them on properly. You have to be a bit more careful when holding and maneuvering as the front circuit board is still attached to the back of the controller when you unscrew the individual parts. But believe me, if you're not used to doing something like this, it's probably a bad idea. Separate them at your own discretion. The parts are painted (spray?), they are not colored plastic, they have a soft matte texture. I had no problems installing the screws in the new case and everything fit perfectly for me. It might be worth keeping a utility knife or sandpaper handy in case the plastic doesn't fit. However, I had no problems. A few words about these replacement buttons: - There are no 4 tiny center buttons in this kit, only ABXY and L, R, ZL and ZR. - The ZL and ZR buttons don't even remotely click like the OEM buttons. - The spider is a little smaller and therefore moves in the body, there are other reviews that explain the problem much better. I've played Tetris 99 with it and sometimes it registers a wrong key press. It's probably the main game where it would be a big problem. Other than that, I'm sure most other games are fine. Other reviews mention sticky button issues, I've been using the controller for a few weeks and haven't had this issue yet. I tried to enable color comparison in photos. If you're looking to do a similar setup for the ACNH switch, hopefully they'll be of help. The soft blue color of the buttons is very similar to the soft blue color of the console's right joystick. I would probably recommend swapping out the plate and button as an easier/better setup than a button setup due to some button differences. I figured since I make plates, I might as well do this all at once. For more information on these specific items, see my Plates and Handles review. Have fun switching! :]

Pros
  • Made of durable hard plastic; Different color buttons to choose from; It would be great if you combine it with our skin
Cons
  • . Definitely a bad product
