Maybe I'm "Retro", or maybe I'm actually Luddite, but I've discovered that I really like This hand-wound pocket watch that tells the time in a simple but beautiful way. No bells, whistles, alarms, or "apps" of any kind. The first one I ordered didn't work on arrival, but while waiting for Shoppe Watch to replace it (which they promptly did) I purchased this one Likewise. They are lovely, seem to be enjoying themselves and every time I pull one out to check the time I get a real sense of satisfaction. I seem to be doing this a lot more than I have to, but hey. The instruction suggests wrapping them "from 20 to 40 turns" once a day at the same time (to make it a habit?). I am concerned that this might overwind and damage the watch. Instead, every morning I pick the "clock of the day", set it, wind it up to 20 times, then turn it a few times each time (or every other time), check the time. Seems to be working fine. They always stay strong at bedtime. The only problem I see with them is that they are addictive: now I have a different one for each day of the week and I try to resist not taking anymore. But they are sooo cool!
