I think this works as it beeped as expected in the presence of high CO, however no red light came on during the beeping. In addition, as shown in the figure, the yellow light is barely visible and does not flicker. It looks like the yellow-red light is meant to illuminate the ring on the front of the device, but there's no way of knowing as the pictures in the instructions don't show the location of the light source. The problem is with the life/safety device, you need to know EXACTLY how it works so you can rely on it 100%.
