Some other DIYers at Jalpa have mentioned asking their engine builders to use these stylish pushrod pads when the oil returns to their 3.5L engines. I asked my mechanic to use regular stock VW pipes which are "sealed" at the factory against the pressure of the heads against the gaskets. Once the engine wears out and things shrink and move, they often tend to leak. Someone recommended this type of whistle and I thought the price was reasonable. A few of my VW buddies have said that they personally don't like them on their VWs, but oddly enough, if you're trying to service your old-school Lamborghini Jalpa, this is the "cure" to your leaking problems. I also found that the standard Viton seal (not the factory seal) worked great for my application. No more dirty starts, no more drips of oil on my exhaust and on the floor. Finally *almost* a drip-free motor.
