Great sound is best in turntables

So you have $500 for a turntable. What to do after all the research work? The problem is that you can't compare the sound of different TTs. Most people reading this aren't in the audiophile weed. We don't constantly buy and sell components to customize this or that. We just want something that sounds really good for the money and we plan on keeping this gear for years to come. I can answer the "audio" part. My Fluance RT85 sounds fantastic to my ears. After years of listening to CDs on my really good system, I was skeptical that I would hear much of a difference. I was wrong. The sound is difficult to rate. It's richer, fuller, more musical. value for money? I can not answer that. Does a $500 TT sound much better than a $300 TT? I do not know. I was on a budget so I decided to buy the 'best' TT in its price range based on reviews. Price compared to other brands? I've narrowed my choices down to Fluance RT85 and Pro-ject DC EVO. Does Fluance sound better than Pro-ject? Probably no. I just felt that the Fluance was very valuable due to the acrylic disc and the acclaimed great sound of the blue Ortofon pickups. I was also repelled by the anti-skating set in the Pro-ject. In short, you can't go wrong with the Fluance RT85 at this price point.
