There are better alternatives for the same price.

I bought this turntable to replace an old Technics model. At the same time, I bought mmf 2.3 SE at Music Hall Sale to compare the performance. Same price. While the Fluance looks very nice in wood veneer, has good bulk and an acrylic panel, the truth is that Music Hall blew it away. The 2.3 sounded better - clearer, more detailed and accurate - and tracked very well with a stick cart. I think the fatal flaw of the Fluance line is the insanely heavy arm. I think its effective mass is about 29…

This is how vinyl should sound!

By far the best turntable I have ever heard and I have been making music for over 35 years. I replaced the AT LP120USB with this one and it was like going from Hyundai to Cadillac. The sound quality is insane. I have several CBS Master Sound albums that sound like crap on my old turntable. Now they sound like they should (the sound of sizzling bacon is gone). The LP120 also buzzed when not in use. The RT 85 is as quiet as a church mouse. I also noticed that the RT 85 is louder than the LP120…

Terrible 30 day player support typical of an online only company.

Might be a great turntable, I'll never know. I've only owned it for 30 days. When a friend came to visit me and CAREFULLY placed the album cover on top of the "acrylic" cover, I thought nothing of it. The cleaning lady came the next morning and I watched her carefully remove it. Either putting the album cover on or removing it from the plastic left a few scratches. Yes they are small and hard to see but I have had 3 other high quality turntables and although I have always cleaned them with a…

Great sound is best in turntables

So you have $500 for a turntable. What to do after all the research work? The problem is that you can't compare the sound of different TTs. Most people reading this aren't in the audiophile weed. We don't constantly buy and sell components to customize this or that. We just want something that sounds really good for the money and we plan on keeping this gear for years to come. I can answer the "audio" part. My Fluance RT85 sounds fantastic to my ears. After years of listening to CDs on my…

Fluance RT85 Review

I bought the RT85, unfortunately the dust cover was broken in 2 places and the right channel didn't work. Fluance Audio was very good at getting my money back. This review is for the product and NOT the company I bought from. cartridge (easily costs $220). The acrylic panel was good (looked cool), but I'm not sure if they improve or decrease the sound quality (although the cost is around $120). Do you think of MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) as real "solid wood”?.? (IMHO: no) - However, it can…

Fiction. Highly recommended.

Definitely recommend this player. I think this is probably the best turntable under $1000. So easy to set up. Sounds amazing. I mean the stylus alone on this turntable is half the price of the turntable and you get an acrylic disc. The player is completely silent. Even when playing with speakers on the same surface, there are no resonances. It comes out of the packaging exactly as stated. When setting up, I used the suggested settings. weight present. I set the downforce as recommended and then

January 24th update. It must have been a bad batch due to a Marantz TT replacement in an identical setup (cable/amplifier/ground/speakers/separator table/place sounds GREAT. Sorry RT85 don't let everyone else experience what we went through almost 2 Months .dirty, and sounds pretty bad for this price range SO once again we eliminated ALL external factors and environmental issues - even took it home with quality equipment and next to its P1, RT85 it sounds like a toy - New : cables, preamp…

The best turntable you can find in this price range

I've been using my RT85 (Walnut) for a week and I love everything about it! About a year ago I got into vinyl. I started with the Audio Technica LP60, which I thought was a great place to start. I caught the virus quickly and have been obsessed with records ever since. For the past 3 months I've been researching what my next turntable would be. While I really liked the AT LP60, it does have its limitations and is mostly plastic with minor adjustments and/or upgrades. After some research I…
