I've always been a bit of a headphone snob until I discovered JVC. These are the third pair I've bought in years (these ones, a $10 pair with little pleats and a $35 pair with a cable) and I love them all. It's clear that the sonic characteristics are mostly subjective, but I'm a big fan of JVC acoustics, straight out of the box. They have exceptional clarity and just the amount of bass I need. Boosting the bass is a waste of time (as it usually is) and only helps muddy the sound. They are light and comfortable and look beautiful. They connected to my Samsung Galaxy S7 in seconds and worked painlessly. JVC has been in this game for a long time and it shows. For the price, I find them unbeatable for hi-fi applications such as phones, tablets, laptops, and Fire TV devices. Obviously, high-end/specialty audio gear will probably show their limitations, but for everything else, they produce enjoyable sound out of the box and offer an amazing 'bang for the buck'.
