Metal Cutting Wheels are excellent for use with a 1350rpm hand drill for cutting old oak stair treads that have already been installed. At first I tried using a knife for cutting wood, but to no avail. These blades wore out to a large extent simply by slicing through a length about 3 1/2 feet the width of a stair step. It is necessary to be patient and apply only a small amount of forward force for the wheels to start cutting through the wood. A wheel broke off around the spindle and got stuck in the wood. Can be pulled out easily. The blades are designed to get the job done safely and successfully.
