Review on Emergency Portable Shortwave Flashlight Headphone Home Audio by Brandon Jaime

Improved emergency weather radio

The digital tuner is a significant improvement over the analogue tuner used in a similar model I bought from this manufacturer last year. I like the ability to automatically scan for the next available strong channel by holding the setup button up or down for two seconds. However, it skips some weaker stations that can still be tuned in manually. The radio works best outdoors. Indoor reception is not that good. This can be improved by installing a longer antenna or connecting an alternative external antenna. The ability to use multiple power sources is great: built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery, 3 AAA (batteries not included), crank or solar panel. The instructions note that the solar panel cannot be used to fully charge a lithium-ion battery because the panel's output current is 30-50mA. The hand crank can generate up to 300-350 mA depending on the crank speed. The USB charging port charges at around 300mA. The ability to use it to charge a cell phone is an important feature when no other power sources are available. The flashlight and reading lamp are bright, each with two levels of brightness. The lights can be turned on individually or simultaneously with independent switches. The SOS signal is very loud. The power lock feature prevents the radio and lights from being accidentally turned on by turning off all power switches. This model adds a headphone jack that was not present in the earlier version of the analog tuner. This device will definitely become part of my emergency kit. .This honest review refers to a product from the manufacturer and does not affect my rating of the product.
