I bought this to use only with WiFi iPad on which I use Navionics for boat navigation. I recently sailed from Miami to Gulfport, Massachusetts across the bay and ICW. This device matched the iPad perfectly and was accurate enough for my use. I attached it to my helmet with 2 way velcro and even under the bimini I had no problem getting it. It's not waterproof, or maybe even waterproof, so I need to build some kind of waterproof case for it that doesn't affect reception. . Otherwise no problem. Battery life was pretty good - 12 hours at times. Usually 8-10. But I don't have a real battery indicator, so I was just charging it from the battery while continuing to use it when the low battery indicator started flashing. This plus the iPad's Wi-Fi made for a nice basic navigation setup for my 34 foot sailboat. However, I also bought an Android tablet as a backup with built in GPS and it worked great too (see my other reviews). I appreciate the build quality of Apple products and therefore literally trusted in the existential security of me and my boat. I used an Apple + Garmin combo and can recommend it. However, you can buy three Android tablets for the price of one Apple + Garmin and have reserves. But I digress. This Garmin is a good product.
