On my 15 year old Oreck XL2100 one of the bearings in the brush assembly has failed. For the past few years this vacuum has been used for garages/shops/decks (vacuuming brushed concrete is DIFFICULT). I ordered it and I'm really excited. My original roller had a plastic driven pulley, but this one has a metal one. (Some previous reviewers reported otherwise!) At first I thought I ordered the wrong one because the bristles were about twice as long as my old one. But it installed fine - now I think my old bristles are just worn out - probably from vacuuming the concrete. When I first used it after installing a new roller I was amazed - now this thing collects way better than I can. remember one day what I attribute to the longer bristles. I'll update this at the end of the summer and let you know how it fares in my somewhat abusive environment.
