Looks appropriate, doesn't matter.

Tl'dr: Looks good, performance drops a bit, overall the product is average. Don't expect this to replace the need to upgrade your CPU with higher clock speeds for better cooling, it won't. Long version: I bought this to replace an outdated cycle, it was a basic cycle, a tank on this system on top of the block, I believe it used a nickel or HS aluminum block. The hose was discolored and had a terrible evaporation problem, after 8 months the system was 80% empty and still. it still cools better than this system. I went for a more complex tank for this rebuild, which is the only real rebuild and has nothing to do with this product. This product? Loud water pump whistling, power hook not compatible with z170 (also 4 years old, same as 6600k) and also not suitable for modular power supply which is shocking. This stuff was the new gaming standard in 2016/17, it wasn't a new build it was a remodel but the power connectors seem dated and the 3 pin mobo controller connectors seem dated as well. Either way, you can make it work. , the fans on the heatsink are great, but perhaps due to the need to use a constant power supply instead of a controller on the mobo, the fans seem mediocre at best, perhaps not spinning to their capable speeds, which in turn. connector problem. Then there's the block issue, it's copper and it doesn't seem "cool" so I'm wondering if it's pure copper, I doubt it, it's most likely alloy or most likely just electroplated, that is, it does not transfer heat very well. A common money-saving tactic. From there, the bottom line is easy. With a slight OC at 6600k (@ 3,920 out of 3.5), idle temps are high 20s, low 30s, under load they can reach almost 80s (I don't want to go too high with this chip); Whereby I ran this CPU at 4.2 on an old cooler and got 18C at rest, 30-50 under load. I also ran this cooler to test its limits and it reached dangerous temperatures of 100°C+; I disassembled the block and folded it several times to ensure airflow and thermal contact occurred and that's it. The tube is warm, which makes me feel like an inefficient system. My large reservoir should also make it more efficient, but it still runs warmer than I'd like given its cost. To give you an idea, this is the usual place to just cool a cooling tower or modest water circuit to see OCings at 4.5 @ 60C load for this chip, this is a very popular CPU for OCing I would blame the age but on the other hand, I was working with a semi-empty circuit cooler days before installing it. So I doubt it's the age of the chip. Not a bad starting point after all, I can install another heatsink to increase heat dissipation efficiency and that might be enough. The positive thing about the connectors not matching my mobo is that I can use these pins for a 2nd/3rd. or even have 4th radiator. Although it looks good.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember
