At $7-8 I give this product four stars. If more, then the rating would have to fall. I have two small aquariums that I use them for (5 gallon and 10 gallon). They are well suited for lighting aquariums. And like any lightbulb, they generate quite a bit of heat. Just make sure you're using the recommended light bulbs for your aquariums. Once I accidentally turned on the 20 watt lightbulbs and the hood got very hot. I won't make that mistake again. I would say these bulbs need replacing every three to six months depending on how often you use them.
