I need a barcode scanner to manage my online business, especially inventory tracking. I was always hesitant because I was afraid that installing the driver and software would be too complicated. I finally took the plunge and tried this thing. What a pleasant surprise! No software or drivers need to be installed. Just plug in the included USB receiver (it's tiny, my biggest concern is not putting it down, so I just left it plugged into one of my USB hubs). Once you plug it in, the computer simply says the USB input device is installed and ready to use. WOW! I didn't even try to install the driver. This is probably recognized by Windows 7 (I know my Windows is outdated but I'm too hesitant to upgrade). I'm still a little unsure if this will work or not, so I just pointed the scanner at a random object with a barcode. BAMM! It has been scanned and my browser is trying to find this UPC code by doing a google search! If I had known it was that easy, I would have gotten it years ago! I haven't started mass scanning my inventory items yet. But I found another great use for this scanner. My state's lottery website has something called "second chance" where you enter your lost lottery ticket numbers and enter the second round of the drawing. Entering these numbers is very time consuming and if you make a mistake it will show that the ticket is invalid and you will have to re-enter this very long number. However, with this very handy cordless scanner, I just click on the field that requires me to manually enter the numbers and then scan the lottery ticket barcode. BAMM! The correct number is entered in this field and all I have to do is click the submit button. How easy is it! With this scanner I entered over 10 different lottery tickets in 60 seconds! That alone is worth the price I paid for the scanner! The only negative I can say about the scanner is that it doesn't read 2D barcodes, which is fine as there is a more expensive version of this product that reads these 2D barcodes. My item doesn't have these codes, so I don't need a more expensive scanner. I am absolutely satisfied with this scanner.
