Review on πŸ§ͺ Accurate Drinking Testing by Swiss Labs by Larry Morris

Impossible to distinguish between hot and purified tap water, baking soda increases indicator values

Last week we received a new ZeroWater pitcher after reading a municipal water quality report that showed lead levels were higher than we thought. Additionally, we live in an older house, so it's possible our plumbing could add more lead. The tester included with the ZeroWater pitcher clearly shows the difference between unfiltered cold water, unfiltered hot water and filtered ZeroWater water. With these test strips I see no difference between the three sources. I tried adding some vinegar to a water sample and saw almost no difference in pH. While adding baking soda shows alkalinity, it also increases lead levels from zero to around 30 ppb. Baking soda does not contain lead and these readings should by no means interfere with each other. We get our water from the Hetch-Hetchy reservoir, so the overall quality is much better than most cities, but the test isn't sensitive enough that the lead level would be useful to us, even without the odd interaction with alkalinity.

Pros
  • βœ… VALUE PACK contains enough test strips to test water 100 times!
Cons
  • Long Shipment
