Review on πŸ’Ύ Inateck FE2005: USB 3.0 Hard Drive Enclosure - Tool-Free SSD Case with UASP Support by Michael Patilla

Revainrating 4 out of 5

VERY slow connection to MacBook Pro (compared to alternatives)

1) In the beginning it was almost impossible to open the case safely. It took considerable force to force the pieces apart, enough to make me think I was hacking the case. Finally, the pieces were easier to slide. 2) Installing an SSD is tricky - you don't see the connectors and the case doesn't route the card directly into the slots. Prepare for more frustration when it doesn't even connect the first time because the card isn't installed properly. 3) SLOWLY. SLOW. SLOW. I tried several SSD cards and both were relatively slow according to Black Magic. The Samsung 840EVO was TEN TIMES faster in another case. I'm no techie, but I suspect it has something to do with USB 3.0 versus 3.1. In any case, even if the speed was better (what could be my fault?), I couldn't recommend this case.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
