I have recently decided to upgrade many of my retro systems to S-Video and have decided to start with the Wii as it offers games for a variety of systems. I hooked up a Sega Genesis to the same TV and I used a real Sonic cartridge running on Genesis Composite to compare it to a game running on Wii with S-Video and the picture on Wii was much cleaner for the same game. The only potential downside to using S-Video is that some games may look too clean, as early pixel art was often designed to blur the composition to blend specific colors.
