For short-term use only - the manufacturer has confirmed that you should not expect the chair to last more than a year

Not the worst chair I have ever sat in, but the construction is very bad. Used daily for my home office and it was adequate but not great. The problem arose when the arm broke. I didn't expect this chair to last forever but I've only had it for a little over a year. Not that it matters, but I'm well under the legal weight limit. The hand just cracked and fell off. I spoke to the manufacturer and they said they don't consider it a defect as it is over a year old (bought about 15 months ago). I guess my expectation that the 1 inch thick plastic wouldn't crack or break under the weight of my hand resting on it was unfounded. They offered me a replacement, but why should I keep using something they admit is just poorly constructed from unreliable materials?
