My house has very severe rust in the well system and sulfur smell/taste. Our first filter is a regular thread filter to remove heavier debris and we use this filter to collect the rest. As described in the product listing, it's a little unclear how it's intended to be used - whether or not it would slow down the water flow rate too much in an entire home filtration system. Simple answer: no. We didn't see any reduction in water usage when using this filter instead of the regular carbon filter we could find at our local hardware store. Is this filter better than locally available filters? Hm. can be. We cannot get ACB filters on site, only normal activated carbon filters. This ACB filter gives us great tasting water and seems to work better for a while longer than the basic activated carbon filters we used to buy locally. However, we only have about 4-5 weeks before the sulfur smell returns and rust starts fouling our equipment, so this filter is no panacea. However, other than investing in a real water softener, this is the best we've found at a reasonable price and adequately stops the rust wave. Since the price seems to drop significantly the more we order at once, this pack of 10 gives us some notable savings. I don't understand why buying a smaller pack would increase the price of the filters by such a large amount but hey I'll still use up the whole 10 pack in less than a year so doesn't really matter.
