The filter is located on the edge of the funnel and on the handle. The filter lets through a large amount of oil and catches all the debris that gets into it during cooking. The filtered oil tastes great. The best way to clean filters and funnels is this easy. It dries easily and is ready for the next use. I am very satisfied with this set of filters and funnels.
