I may have received a defect but the white plastic cap is too difficult to unscrew after being sealed for several weeks. The first fermentation went well, the second resulted in water from the "ditch" sloshing over my ginger beetle trying to remove the lid. It makes things stick/slip, which combined with the lid's lack of support, makes it difficult to hold a full container in a stable position. Ergonomically, the bad design. There's no good way to hold the jar in one hand and the lid in the other hand and apply torque to unscrew. If I try again, I have an extra pair of hands to hold the glass. Chop 4 kg of kale (approx. 4 heads). Books seem to be more about looks than content, I prefer the opposite. For the price I would not buy this again, there are many basic glass options.
