Save money and time

Ok I have this scanner and have had it for 10 years. It's been a great tool that has saved me a lot of time and money over the years. tells me that's not the case in that little black box in my car. I updated mine to just scan specs 6000. It was easy to do online. I think the specs are already in the reader, they just have a login code that unlocks it. This code reader does more than just tell you the code. It tells you what this code means. It's not new enough to inform you of possible reasons like new devices on the market. (2014). It tracks real-time data, tests O2 sensors, collects data when you want to lead and control, and later reads it out after the ride. Newer supported vehicles track and read more data than the home hobbyist knows what to do with. The scanner comes with Ford OBD I, GM OBD I and two OBD II cables which should work with most local and SOME imported vehicles. It can read data from OBD i and OBD II systems so you can go back to the mid 90's. The cables are long enough to stand on the fender and look at the engine while the scanner is reading. You can order a different cable for older Chrysler products and if you look at places like Revain or eBay you can find several cables for other imported items. Previously, the manufacturer had software available to work with these imports. I'm not sure if this is the case as the tool is outdated. It is powered by 4 AA batteries. It would be nice if it had the ability to be powered by a car, but it doesn't. The screen lights up as desired. This feature can be turned on or off to save power. Overall, it's easy to use and easy to learn. Other reviews complained about the old software in this device and the lack of updates. That's why. It's old! Like I said, I've had mine for at least 10 years, maybe even longer. It was on the market long before you bought it. There's a limit to how long manufacturers keep updating things like this. One review mentions compatibility with Windows XP. There is an example there too. Windows will no longer update and patch XP as they have released newer versions. It's the same with this scanner. This is an old model and there have been newer, more advanced devices around the web since it was first released. I've updated mine as much as the manufacturer will allow. It still works great. It's an invaluable tool, but its use is limited to cars newer than 07. It still reads most codes and resets the check engine light on my 09, but there are codes in 09 that this scanner just won't read. It says the manufacturer's code if it finds something too new. 4 stars for what it was designed for when it was designed for.
