Review on 🧦 Durable Coolmax Micro Crew Cushion Socks for Men - Darn Tough by Jason Maciel

Good breathability but not functional enough

A little background: I started traveling around the UAE last year. If you're unfamiliar, the terrain is quite technical with a mix of sand, gravel, boulders, boulders and real mountains. Sometimes there are streams and puddles. Almost all trips involve off-road. However, heat is a very important factor. Daylight saving time is ridiculous so I doubt I'll even walk. Winter is nice between 22 and 24 °C. Early Spring 26-28C. (All Day Steps) Having recently switched to Salomon Quest 4D, I found my typical Balega Blister Resist socks to be too hot. So I did some research and bought these socks as well as a few others from Darn Tough and Smartwool to try. I started with these as the touch test found them to be the most breathable. Now the socks actually work as advertised as I could handle the temperature (27C) in my Quest 4D but ended up with a blister on my toe. 18km, 800m class 3 climb. Even when I was using the Danner 600 Enduroweave (much thinner and more flexible outsole) my baelgas did a great job of keeping me from blisters. So a failure for me because now I can't even walk properly, let alone exercise for a few days. So it looks like I'll have to switch to more breathable shoes and go back to using my balegas, which is a shame as the Quest is perfect for the terrain I'm walking on. My Opinion: Fine if you're not too technical, but look elsewhere if your hikes are in really difficult terrain (I recommend the Balegas). Another factor could be how callous your toes are😄
