Think about it! Just take a look. We had construction quality fans in our house and we checked them all out and replaced them with these during our renovation! We now have 4. 2 of them are still waiting to be installed. However, we had some problems with one, so the rating is lower. After installation, the problematic fan seemed to work fine, but after a few days the light just wouldn't come on. Upon inspection, we noticed that one of the LEDs looked burned out. Since we really needed the light in this room, we replaced the light kit with one from one of the other fans. It turned out to work fine. I called Minka and they happily agreed to send me a new lighting set. They were surprised that the light had burned out. Unfortunately the kit was in reserve and it took me several weeks to get a new one. The next day the lighting kit that we had supplied from another fan also burned out. Called Minka again and they told me that the receiver turns off the light and agreed to send me another set of lights (now 2) and a new receiver. We have received the receiver and are waiting for the light kit to see if we have solved our problem. crossed fingers Another built-in fan works perfectly. So now for the pros and cons. Pros: 1. Looks great! Very stylish fan. Simple and elegant. Goes well with the transitional style of our house.2. Move the air! Works great as a fan, easy to change the direction and speed of the fan.3. Robust remote control! The remote isn't flimsy, which is important considering how it's controlled. We have a large fan that had trouble with the remote control so I'm glad it's powerful. Easy installation. A breeze to install. Doesn't technically require a switch, which we think is great because it frees up the switch for future lighting efforts.5. Minka customer service! They solved our fan problem exceptionally well. Cons: 1. The lower link finish is delicate. We ended up with a few scratches as the lids slid up and down the stick. It's impossible to see them from the ground unless you know where to look, so it's not a big problem2. Problem with receiver/light! Hopefully we'll find that fixed when we get our new lighting set, but for now it's still an issue. 3. Brightness of light. They put out a decent amount of light, but I'd like to see more. Without the globe the room is insanely bright but with it much less, maybe a globe that scatters less light would be better? This is hardly a minus, since it still gives off quite a bit of light.
