Review on Painless 30101 Thom Electric Relay by Shigg Bigbee

You had the right idea.

This is a relay kit. This is to save you from buying lots of parts to install an electric fan. NOT CORRECT. 1: Turns on the relay. HOORAY! 2: There are enough wires to connect the fan itself if you want to install a relay on the CORE SUPPORT. If you wish to mount the relay alongside your fuel pump relay or other relays on the bulkhead for a factory look, all you need to do is add a piece of wire. You will need a black wire (10 gauge) for the negative side of the fan. This kit comes with NONE. 3: Since you're forced to mount to the core mount (if you don't want to add a cable), the problem is that the gray cable isn't long enough to reach the salon (so you can connect it to 12v/ switch on the fuse). Blackboard). 4: The black wire is only 2 inches long. You will need to add a wire (14 gauge) to attach it to the inlet thermostat switch. 5: The 30A circuit breaker is useless. Buy a built-in 30A fuse. So this kit is VERY troublesome for what it's worth. I suggest (since you will be buying wires, fuses, etc.) go to the junkyard and cut the relay off the donor car. While there, steal any ornate whistles you can. Then go to your favorite parts store and buy the necessary wires, terminals, etc. This will save you money and for under $100 you can get a relay setup that looks like a factory rather than being assembled.

Pros
  • Cheap car fan and wire harness protector
Cons
  • Some bugs
