April 18, 2018 First I want to say that I am a doctor. I purchased this tape after a nutritionist/nutritionist friend recommended this product to me. I would also like to point out that I have not received or paid any compensation of any kind or form for changing my rating. Although I give the product three stars, I'm having a hard time deciding on a rating. it's between 2.5/5 and 3.5/5 stars, and here's why: I find regular sewing tape uncomfortable to use. Not only is it a bit big for me, I have to unfold and fold them back. In the hospital I have to constantly move from one place to another, so a small retractable tape measure like this seemed like the right choice. When I purchased this item (I think I bought it for $19.29) the product appeared to be well made. The tape measure is thin and the measurements appear to be accurate. It has about 8 cm at the beginning of the tape that is blank before actually starting the measurements, making it convenient to measure a patient (i.e. take anthropometric measurements). On the one hand it measures centimeters/millimeters and on the other hand it measures the diameter in cm to mm. However! Right out of the box, my hopes and dreams of finding the perfect tape measure for my practice were dashed when I pulled the tape past the 35-40cm mark, whether I was pulling fast or slow; the tape starts to stop when pulled back. and then it doesn't retract at all when it's almost done until I shake it vigorously. I asked my girlfriend to lend it to me and her band stretches and tucks in perfectly. I have to say that I have never dropped the product. Overall the band is ok but I'm disappointed after paying nearly $20 for a faulty product. This makes me think about the durability of the product and for this price I expect and want a long lasting product.
