The top is not made of wood.
I bought it to store medicines. I was tired of using pill bottles or the packaging they come in so I bought these glass pills. I wanted something pleasing to the eye. The glass is VERY thick. However, the panels are NOT MADE OF WOOD. I've seen several other testimonials from people claiming the same thing but taking the risk. In fact, they are plastic with a pattern under the tree. They work for what I want, but I wish they were actually made out of wood as advertised.
