Review on Conte Crayon Assorted Landscape Set by Kristen Reid

I've tried Conté a few times and can't recommend this or any other Conté crayon in any colour. It's like painting with sandpaper. They may have been good once, but everything I've gotten from them in the last few years has lots of grit in crayons (and pencils). This landscape set is *much* worse than the sanguine ones, which I've already given up (look for Pipo's Chalk as an alternative). Put this on any paper and try to smudge it and it's like sanding the paper. If you draw with light pressure, you're likely to get stuck on a piece of sand that you'll need to cover on a separate piece of notebook paper. And you never know when that hardness will show up, so good luck in getting reliable and consistent results. The Conté name is well known and the value of the colored pencils often shows this. But the quality just isn't there.
