Review on πŸšͺ Optimized Fit Pet Door by Wendy Bengtson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Takes patience but works

We had it just over a week before installing it. It took a little longer than expected, about 1 1/2 hours as we had to shave off part of the sash as it kept getting stuck and not fully closing. We also taped the locks as they kept getting blocked when we didn't want them locked, usually because cats pawed at them. This is the third. My 2 cats have never seen a cat door. They are in the cats but come out onto our deck where they can hunt bugs and birds and get some fresh air. I used masking tape to stick the catnip toys to the transparent door. This made them push the door open and realize they could push it open. The larger cat (15lbs) was the first to go through this on his own but it took 2 1/2 weeks and he is very inconsistent getting on and off. I removed the tape from the toys and put the toys outside when I wanted them to go outside and in when I wanted them to go in. At 5 weeks I removed the toys and the big cat was coming in and out as she pleased, the smaller cat (9lbs) was a bit more conventional but at 7 weeks she was getting in and out as she pleased. We installed it on a sliding screen door and didn't have the error problem that we had when we left the screen door open.
